I’m currently examining a 2020 to 2020 for transportation improvement plan for the Moving Forward 2045 initiative. The plan has 10 projects proposed which have considerable impact on this area with a price tag of 125 million. There is also a Front Range Passenger Rail project with an estimated 14 million price tag.
Transportation and the infrastructure will continue to be an issue if there is more growth than infrastructure can handle. In 1992 I witnessed growth firsthand when I lived here on Corona Street in Colorado Springs. I was working for a bridge building company while in the United States reserve. We tore down the existing bridge and rebuilt a new one on pikes Peak Highway at Crystal reservoir. I broke a tooth there in a construction mishap. Transportation will continue to be on my radar, and I will regularly communicate with civic leaders on the matter.
